This October, UCP held our first-ever “Mini” Family Conference—a one-day conference designed for families who experience cerebral palsy. We’re pleased to report that the Mini Conference was a hit! Attendees said that it was, “absolutely wonderful and extremely informative,” “just the right size,” and that they “felt very included and together.” Attendees were able to make new friends and increase their support group. As one attendee said, “I always enjoy the Moms’ Tea! I love getting to know other moms.”
Also popular was a discussion about grief; as one attendee said, grief is “such a real and powerful part of this journey with our kids. It's nice to know that others feel the same way and there isn't shame in feeling that way.” Thanks to everyone who attended or presented at the 2017 UCP Mini Family Conference! PS: We’re already planning the 2018 UCP Family Conference, which will be held October 19-20th at the Red Lion Jantzen Beach Hotel. We’re very excited about the keynote speaker for that event; his name is Tyler Jones and he’s a UCP dad. A year ago, Tyler experienced a serious seizure of his own, so he has a firsthand understanding of what his son (and others with CP) experience when they have a massive seizure. Comments are closed.
