UCP at the Brew Fest

8/21/2019

We would like to extend our gratitude to the over 50 volunteers who showed up to represent UCP at the Oregon Brewers Festival (July 24th-27th).

The UCP volunteers contributed hundreds of hours, working the games, dunk tank, and root beer garden; staffing various booths; handing out tokens; recycling; and pouring beer... making the festival a joyous and exciting place for all who attended.

The UCP volunteers were also helping UCP build a relationship with the community as a whole, and sharing our mission to advance the conversation about equality, inclusivity, and full-citizenship for people with disabilities.

We shared stories and experiences of the UCP community to over 40,000 people from all over the country and the world!

In other exciting news, we greatly exceeded our brew fest fundraising goal. We raised approximately $17,000!

Sad News

We are sad to announce that one of UCP's Supported Living customers, Don Harris, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of August 14th at Providence Portland Hospital due to cancer and a secondary infection.

As Katie Polanshek, one of UCP's Supported Living managers writes, "Don was a kind-hearted, resilient man with a zest for life and a great sense of humor. His joyful spirit was contagious and he will be missed by many."

They were there to share the story of This Is Our Voice, UCP's latest (and statewide!) advocacy program.
