UCP normally has a Family Conference every two years. This year, though, we’re having a special extra “Mini” Conference on Saturday, October 7, 2017, from 9am-4:30pm in Salem.
“It’s designed for parents who are raising a child who experiences cerebral palsy…although all five workshops are relevant for parents raising a child with any disability! At the “My Child’s Life Care Notebook” session, you’ll learn how to keep track of your child’s school and medical records using a special (free!) notebook. You’ll be able to get life planning off the back burner at our “Life Care Planning/ABLE Act” session. And you’ll learn how to navigate and appeal insurance decisions at our “Healthcare/Insurance Advocacy & Funding Resources” session. Find out more here. Thank you to the sponsors, participants, and supporters of this year's Walk, Roll 'n' Run! Together we raised more than $90,000 for UCP Family Support.
Fundraising is open through September 30, so if you haven't donated yet, please help us reach our $100,000 goal! To donate, visit the event's website. Congratulations to UCP's Melissa Miller, who was just promoted to the brand new position of Employment Services Department Director.
Melissa started at UCP in 2003 as a live-in caregiver. Since then, she has worked tirelessly to build our Supported Employment Department ("Employment Solutions") from the ground up. One person and one step at a time. Today, Employment Solutions employs more than 24 Job Coaches, Employment Specialists and managers, and supports hundreds of very satisfied customers. Congratulations on your promotion, Melissa! Thank you for your dedication and tenacity. |
