Have you ever wondered what it’s like to work at UCP? Here’s one person’s take. Meet Trina Bradford (she/her). Trina joined UCP in 2021 as a Support Specialist in our “Foundations” Department, but was soon promoted to an Assistant Team Leader. Trina’s team is known as the Willow Team. (Fun fact: both of UCP’s Supported Living Teams are named after trees.) Trina says her favorite part of the job is “collaborating with customers and coworkers to find solutions. I truly believe in the work we do here. Having a job that feels meaningful is everything. My coworkers are what make it fun!” Trina currently supports a small caseload of customers, assisting customers with practical, daily living tasks to develop their independence. Trina also supervises two teams of Personal Assistants, who work in the homes of the customers she supports. Like most folks at UCP, Trina has lots of interests. As she says, when she’s not at UCP, “You might find me at a music festival, camping, snowshoeing on Mt. Hood, getting lost in the Oregon Outback, or at the wildflower extravaganza at Mt. Rainier. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, being outdoors, rock hunting, archaeology, bird watching, and supporting my LGBTQ+ community. I'm always up for new adventures and meeting great people!” Want to join Trina at UCP? We have a few openings in the same department!
As you may have heard, we opened our "Bill Porter Memorial Fund" (BPMF) for 2022 applications on February 1, 2022.
UCP customers, with assistance as needed from UCP staff, are applying to fund for life improvement projects that fall outside of the typical scope of funding. Here are some examples of how folks used their BPMF funds.

It's rainy and cold here in Oregon, but we're excited because we have some great news for you!
UCP Oregon was awarded a grant from the Oregon Department of Human Services, which we're using to highlight and celebrate the hard work of our Direct Support Professionals. We created a "Share the Love" story project, where our direct support staff could share stories about their work life--the fun stuff, the hard stuff, and even the funny parts. Every person who submitted a story was awarded a $100 Visa gift card. We received so many fabulous stories. We'll be sharing several of them here (see the link below) and on Facebook over the next few weeks, so make sure to check back in. PS: Thank you so much to everyone who submitted a story! *DSP's are employees who provide direct support to customers, such as Personal Assistants, Support Specialists, Support Coordinators, Personal Coordinators, Assistant Team Leaders, Substitute Support Professionals, Children’s Support Professionals, Job Coaches, and Employment Specialists. We’d like to share some more stories from the storm.
One of UCP Oregon’s Supported Living Team Leaders, Codi Parmelee, did fantastic work, driving staff to and from shifts. Thanks, Codi! A Personal Agent from UCP’s Brokerage, Jeff Gilbert, braved the storm with our technology consultant, Jeff Couttouw, to get our servers up, with assistance from the Brokerage Director, Sarah Noack. Thanks, guys! And so many other folks worked extra hours and dealt with treacherous driving conditions. We are so grateful for every one of you. Thank you!
