UCP Oregon has been part of the community since 1955—through good times, hard times, and everything in between.
No matter what’s happening in the world, one thing stays the same: our commitment to the people we support. Right now, many Oregonians with disabilities are facing a new challenge. Because of the federal government shutdown, SNAP benefits (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program—also known as food stamps or Oregon Trail cards) have been temporarily suspended. That means many of our customers have suddenly lost their main source of grocery support. So we’re taking action. We’ve launched the UCP Oregon Food Access Fund—a community effort to make sure everyone we support has enough to eat. Your donation will help provide grocery gift cards, connect customers and families with local food resources, and bring a little peace of mind during uncertain times. Thanks for your support! 💛 Learn more. Each December, dozens of UCP Oregon families raising children with cerebral palsy or other disabilities climb aboard the Portland Spirit for one of our most beloved traditions—the Cinnamon Bear Cruise.
You can help make this special day possible by sponsoring a family’s spot on the cruise. UCP families love this event! They get to meet Cinnamon Bear, share breakfast, connect, and relax as they enjoy a magical cruise down the Willamette River. Every year, UCP covers the full cost of this event so that every family can participate. But this year, as event costs rise, we’re inviting our community to help keep the magic afloat. Your gift can make a difference:
We’re thrilled to announce that UCP Oregon has once again earned a "Gold" Transparency status from Candid for 2024!
We know that our donors and supporters have many choices when it comes to their giving. That’s why we work hard to achieve this recognition every year—sharing detailed information about our mission, programs, finances, and impact to ensure we remain transparent and accountable. This "Gold" status is a reflection of UCP's commitment to building trust and creating a world that values all people equally. Thank you for being part of our journey and for making this achievement possible! Happy Giving Tuesday!
UCP Oregon is thrilled to tell you that 100% of this week's donations will directly support our Family Support Department! 💙 Your generosity will help us create joyful experiences for kids who experience developmental disabilities, including fun outings such as adaptive skate nights. You'll also help us provide valuable support groups for parents. Plus, you’ll be part of bringing the 2025 Family Support Conference to life—connecting hundreds of parents and professionals right here in Portland to learn and grow together. Thank you for making a difference! Your support means the world to the 800+ families we serve. 💙 Can you believe that December is almost here?
This week, UCP Oregon is celebrating “Giving Tuesday”—a day to pause and reflect on what’s truly important this holiday season. If UCP Oregon matters to you, we encourage you to donate today. Your donation will make a big difference right here in the Portland area. You’ll be helping 800 families and 1,000 adults with disabilities live independent lives and get the support they need. Plus, your donation will count for the 2023 tax year! Donate to UCP Oregon today! One of UCP Oregon's most popular Family Support events is the annual Cinnamon Bear Cruise. Our families gather together to share a meal, enjoy a boat ride on the Willamette, and partake in festive holiday-themed entertainment.
So far, 82 families have signed up to participate this year! Please sponsor a child, a family... or even several families! $44 is all it takes for one child to attend. Thank you for helping to bring cheer to our UCP families and children this season! Eeek! We're falling a bit behind!
Please remember to keep voting for UCP Oregon every day until July 5th, in Advantis Credit Union's completion to win a $10,000 grant. If we win the grant, we'll be able to give 50 families from UCP's Family Support Department a night of respite at a hotel of their choice. One night away can make a huge difference in the lives of parents who are raising kids with disabilities, many who are caregivers 24/7. PS: Gigantic thanks to the awesome local Advantis Credit Union for offering this grant! Thanks to everyone who starting voting for UCP in the Advantis Credit Union competition to win a $10,000 grant!
As of this moment, we're in second place, which would qualify us for a grant! But we have to keep voting daily through July 5th. To help you remember, we created a fun Printable Voting Tracker.
PS: If UCP wins, we'll be able to give overnight hotel stays to 50 families in our Family Support Department who are raising kids with disabilitites. Some of these parents are "on duty" 24/7, so an overnight break can change lives.
Due to popular request, you can now donate directly to UCP’s Family Support Department!
Your donation will assist 800 families who are raising children with developmental disabilities, right here in Oregon. Our Family Support Department is there at every stage, from the moment of diagnosis to the time when the child is ready to start their adult life. We offer monthly support groups, information and referral, fun outings, and workshops and classes. But most importantly, we offer hope, a sense of connection, and lots of fun along the way! Thank you so much for your support. We couldn’t do it without you! |
