2/15/2023

Picture
Due to popular request, you can now donate directly to UCP’s Family Support Department!

Your donation will assist 800 families who are raising children with developmental disabilities, right here in Oregon.

Our Family Support Department is there at every stage, from the moment of diagnosis to the time when the child is ready to start their adult life.

We offer monthly support groups, information and referral, fun outings, and workshops and classes. But most importantly, we offer hope, a sense of connection, and lots of fun along the way!

Thank you so much for your support. We couldn’t do it without you!

Raise Free Money for UCP

12/1/2022

Hi, this is Corrie!

It's the holiday season, and many of us are feeling stretched a little thin. So, I wanted to share a free (and easy) way to make a difference... without spending a dime!

Did you know that you can raise money for UCP, simply by shopping?

It's true. Simply select "UCP Oregon" as your charity via Amazon's Smile program, and then use www.smile.amazon.com as your starting point whenever you shop on Amazon. We’ll get a donation every time you shop.

You can raise free money at Fred Meyer's, too!

I've personally raised $61.39 for UCP. It feels great knowing I'm making a difference all year long.

Alas, as you may have guessed, there will be no 2022 Walk, Roll 'n' Run (WRR).

The WRR is UCP Oregon's biggest special event. It raises funds for the hundreds of families and kids who use the services of our Family Support Department.

So we're going to need your help more than ever!

That's why we're asking you to donate in your usual amount. Or even consider donating more! Every dollar makes a huge difference.

IT'S ALMOST TIME

As you know, UCP Oregon believes in the power of real choice, real jobs, real homes, and real connections for all—a full life for those we serve.

But it’s obvious that, in many cases, experiencing a full life can be extremely challenging, given the funding and service delivery systems that currently exist for people with developmental disabilities.

That’s why we launched the Bill Porter Memorial Fund (BPMF) in 2018.

The BPMF is designed to assist our customers to experience a full life, however that might look for each customer. Customers have applied for funding for:

  • Home modifications.
  • Assistive technology.
  • Travel to reconnect with a family member or friend.
  • Funding for education.
  • Job training.
  • Joining a gym.

We’re excited to announce that we’ll be opening the 2022 BPMF application process on February 1, 2022.

Note: Applicants must be currently receiving services from UCP Oregon to be considered.

Picture
Hi!

We were just asked, in honor of Disability Pride Month, if UCP Oregon participates in "Amazon Smile"--you know, the way you can raise FREE MONEY for your FAVORITE NON-PROFIT when shopping on Amazon. (Because, obviously, UCP Oregon is your favorite non-profit ever.)

Well, guess what! We DO participate in Amazon Smile!

Below is a link that tells you how to set it up.

PS: The process only takes a few seconds. After that, you'll be raising free money for UCP every time you shop on Amazon!

Announcing "Bill Porter" Porter!

3/13/2020

Picture
$1 of every pint you drink at Deschutes Brewing on Tuesdays in April will go to UCP Oregon.
Find Out More
Guess what! UCP Oregon is about to have its own speciality beer at Deschutes Brewing! The beer will be known as "Bill Porter Porter" in honor of UCP's Bill Porter Memorial Fund (and the late, great Bill Porter himself, of course!)

Bill Porter was an Oregonian who experienced cerebral palsy. He was not defined by his disability or diagnosis, but instead by his incredible achievements while employed as a door-to-door salesperson for Watkins Products.

Bill became their top seller and worked for over forty years. His story was made known through articles in the Oregonian, a segment on the ABC news program 20/20, and the award winning movie, Door to Door, starring William H. Macy. Porter passed in 2013.

UCP honors Bill Porter with our
Bill Porter Memorial Fund, which removes barriers and support meaningful lives for our customers.

Community Pints Fundraiser at Deschutes

Who's ready to raise a pint for UCP?

Every Tuesday during the month of April, $1 per pint sold at Deschutes Portland Public House will be donated to UCP Oregon.

In addition, Deschutes is working with UCP Oregon to brew a specialty beer honoring the late Bill Porter, known by unintentionally challenging misperceptions about cerebral palsy in pursuit of employment and independence.
