Share Your Fierce Love

In 2014, six mothers from UCP Oregon’s Family Support Department sat down at the Well Arts Institute to do something exciting and scary: to share their stories with the idea of creating a play about their experiences. They talked about happiness and hope. They talked about sadness and fears. Over ten weeks, they stitched their words into a play called “Fierce Love: Stories by Mothers of children with CP.”

Fierce Love is a testament to the tenacity and heart that guide many parents who are raising children who experience disabilities. It’s also a testament to how these often unnoticed children make a huge impact on everyone’s lives.
 
In 2015, the UCP moms worked with professional theatre artists to present their play onstage at Milagro in Portland. The play was wildly popular, having a run of several weeks, and then an encore.
