Sad News

We are sad to announce that one of UCP's Supported Living customers, Don Harris, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of August 14th at Providence Portland Hospital due to cancer and a secondary infection.

As Katie Polanshek, one of UCP's Supported Living managers writes, ​​"Don was a kind-hearted, resilient man with a zest for life and a great sense of humor. His joyful spirit was contagious and he will be missed by many."

Ann Coffey, UCP's Executive Director, writes, 

Don, I imagine you ... dressed up for Halloween. Giggling and smiling. Always witty, with; a wonderful sense of humor.

Know this; you have taught us all to set aside differences and connect. You have taught us that being heard and understood comes from an exchange of kindness and trust, not words or paper representations. Thank you for your delightful spirit. Thank you for the privilege of letting all of us in. Thank you for your grace.

Many of you have been a part of Don’s story. Find support in one another. Take time to grieve. ​Laugh, cry, and dress up like Darth! Don, you will be missed.
