Was last Wednesday the best day ever at UCP Oregon? Maybe! UCP was taken over by "Bunnies in Baskets" (a non-profit that brings therapy rabbits to local businesses and organizations). Lucky UCP employees and customers got lots of cuddles, and even a few bunny kisses. Want to watch a video? Check out this video on our Facebook page!
We wanted to share a few last images from our one of most recent Neighborhood Waves events, which took UCP's customers, employees and supported to the Sellwood/Westmoreland neighborhood.
The Sellwood New Seasons welcomed a UCP group with a tour and samples--special thanks to Linda, our wonderful tour guide! Interested in having YOUR business be part of UCP's Neighborhood Waves? Marie experiences cerebral palsy, and has been an important part of the WRR since the very first event (in 2005), when she was the main organizer and captain of a WRR team. She was 13 that year and did all the organizing herself. She's been a team captain ever since. Each year, she reaches out to everyone she knows, requesting that they join her team or sponsor her for the event. She loves UCP and raises funds for UCP all year long, not just during the WRR. She’s raised more than $45,000 since 2005! Marie will receive her honors from at our upcoming UCP Friends Breakfast on Tuesday, May 15th. A Jr. in NE Portland has a new dishwasher named Atzary! Atzary worked with UCP’s Employment Solutions to find a great job. She reports that she loves her job, and that and her favorite tasks are dishwashing and keeping the lobby clean for customers. Carl’s Jr. likes the fact she’s hard-working, and that she’s bilingual in Spanish and English. Congrats, Carl’s Jr. and Atzary!
You can make a difference by supporting businesses that hire a diverse workforce! Visit Atzary's Carl's Jr. at 1762 NE 181st Avenue, Portland, OR 97230. What does it look like when people who experience disabilities come together to form a movement? It looks like this!
