UCP’s Family Support Department  will be hosting a complimentary screening of the movie Including Samuel on Saturday, February 11th, from 2pm to 4pm.

This 58-minute video is riveting, thought-provoking, and is changing the way people think about disability. 

Here’s what the filmmakers have to say about the movie:

Before his son Samuel was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, photojournalist Dan Habib rarely thought about the inclusion of people with disabilities. Now he thinks about  inclusion every day. Shot and produced over four years, Habib's award-winning documentary film, Including Samuel, honestly chronicles the Habib family's efforts to include Samuel in every facet of their lives. The film also features four other families with varied inclusion experiences, plus interviews with dozens of teachers, young people, parents and disability rights experts.

Including Samuel is a highly personal, passionately photographed film that captures the cultural and systemic barriers to inclusion.

A discussion will follow for those interested and able to take part. 

This event is open to the community, so share this with friends, family, educators and anyone else you might think of!  Interpreters will be provided for those that need it.

LOCATION: We'll be holding the event at the Reedwood Friends Church (2901 SE Steele, Portland), in the accessible Friendship Center (located downstairs, but can be entered from the parking lot).
